April 15, 2007
Costa Mesa, CA---Dennis Lira of Long Beach has been named General Manager of Star-Vu Drive-In, the new drive-in movie theater slated to open in May at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.
Lira has more than 20 years experience in the movie theater business, starting out as an usher and working his way up. Most recently he was the General Manager for Regal Cinemas in Rolling Hills Estates. Prior to that he worked in management positions for United Artist Theatres in the San Francisco Bay area and in Los Angeles County.
“We are excited to have Dennis on board. His decades of experience in the movie theater industry are an extraordinary asset as we turn our dream for the Star-Vu Drive-In into reality. He shares our vision of how this drive-in delivers an extraordinary entertainment value to the community, “ said Mary Jean Duran, President of OC Drive-In, LLC, the entity that owns Star-Vu Drive-In.
As General Manager Lira will oversee the daily operations of the theater including supervising personnel and handling customer relations.
“I am looking forward to being a part of this innovative idea for a drive-in--a nostalgic experience with a modern twist. I can already tell people can’t wait to go, “ Lira said.
When the Star-Vu Drive-In opens next month, it will be the only operating drive-in movie theater in Orange County. The last of 11 that formerly operated in the county closed in 1997. Star-Vu Drive-In will have an inflatable screen, and accommodate 300 cars in the fairgrounds parking lot.
